Modern agricultural production is difficult to imagine without the use of fertilizers. This is especially true for the not too generous lands of the middle belt. In order to get a decent harvest, you have to help the land and plants with special fertilizers. One of the most common products used in agriculture is carbamide.
Currently, urea is produced with the addition of urea-formaldehyde resin. This additive is a product necessary for the production of urea with the necessary characteristics, such as crushing strength, bulk density or tendency to caking.
Unfortunately, there are also some negative aspects of using pre-condensates of formaldehyde and urea (UF 80, UF85). The main disadvantage is that it still contains a significant amount of free formaldehyde, which is harmful to health. It belongs to the IARC (International Association for Cancer Research) category - a carcinogenic substance. In addition, the urea-formaldehyde resin solution contains a certain amount of methanol. Therefore, it leaves a significant part of the emissions of volatile organic compounds from the ammonia and urea production complex, which local authorities may require to be reduced to a very low level. Moreover, production carbamide treated with urea-formaldehyde resin cannot be sold as a technical brand for most applications.
In the past, the goal of UFT was to develop an alternative additive that can guarantee the same product quality with at least the same technological parameters, while not having an environmental impact. The result of the development is an alternative additive that demonstrates the quality of the product and granulation parameters that are at least the same as the trademark UF (urea formaldehyde resin). Unlike solutions of urea-formaldehyde resin, it is not harmful to health or the environment, because it consists of components that decompose by microorganisms and allow them to come into contact with food. In addition, the introduction of an alternative additive makes it possible to use the same carbamide granules for the production of fertilizers, technical grade and DEF. This increases the scope of application of urea granules and significantly reduces the logistics costs of manufacturers of various brands of urea.
Having studied this issue, Garant LLC, in the process of scientific and production activities, developed a set of solutions for urea manufacturers, consisting of additives that completely replace urea-formaldehyde resin.Unlike CFS new solutions, it does not contain harmful substances. Their main components are a mixture of natural polysaccharides used in the food industry and are not harmful to humans and the environment.
